Church Council Minutes
Walker Church Council
January 27, 2015
Present: Jan Werness, Mary Parker, Al Hildenbrandt, Greg Garman, Bonita Blumenhauer, Deb Ramage, Kent Eklund, Lucy Slater, Wayne Bailey, Allyson Hayward, Nancy Larsen.
The minutes were approved as read.
Jan gave the financial report. Thanks to increased donations and an anonymous contribution of $10,000 we were only about $634 in the hole at the end of 2014. The Claim Fund has been closed, as well as the fund for The Table. We will have to find a new bank, as our bank is closing.
Al spoke for the Trustees. The parsonage sale closes on Friday, January 30. The heat and air conditioning of the new building seems to be functioning relatively well, except for one glitch.
Lucy reported that the new Staff Parish Relations Committee has not yet met.
Jan reported that the Spring Rummage Sale is scheduled for April 23 – 25. The date for the Spring Silent Auction has not been set.
Mary laid our the church calendar for the coming months including Mardi Gras February 17 and Ash Wednesday February 18, as well as the Vernal Equinox.
Deb reported that the Communications Task Force has dwindled to Al, Jennifer Gahnstrom and herself. There was general praise for her work on the Walker web site. She requested that photographers take pictures of Walker events to be posted on the web site. Also, there needs to be a policy created governing the use of pictures of children. Deb continues to monitor spam and bogus subscribers on the web site. She also posts Walker events on e-Democracy neighborhood forums and sends information to the “Southside Pride.”
Mary distributed the Building Use Task Force minutes.
Allyson presented presented the 2014 list of active and unresponsive members. We have 169 active members, 125 official members and 11 associate members. The list of inactive members was divided up between council members, who will ask if the inactive members want to remain as members.
The meeting was adjourned.
The next council meeting will be Tuesday, March 31 at 7:45 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Larsen
Church Council Secretary
