Building Use Task Force
Building Use Task Force Meeting Notes
January 20, 2015
Present: Adel Gardner, Colleen Puent, Ed Ed Mueller, Steve Sandberg, Fred Glazer, Anne Tiller, Mary Parker, Jennifer Gahnstrom
We want to review the notes from the Large Group (survival) meetings.
There was some discussion of publicity and marketing and the money situation.
Jennifer handed out pages on ‘Rental Income 2014’ and ‘Building Use Policies’
Adel’s notes from going around the circle at meeting and speaking to what we are individually interested in for an outcome of this group:
Colleen: Interested in a lot of things/wants to help any way she can/ mostly concerned with deficit vs income issue/ easy ways/ wants to simplify decision making and has a very practical approach
EdEd: how we advertise/how to determine what fills the gaps/ wants to be economically viable
Steve: if he had a magic wand would like to encourage arts and youth/ misses community of the past and artistic expression as a focus/ might not be a realistic goal/ wants to honor all paths/ interested in finding out more about the group ‘Converging Visions’ that presented to us/ wanted a bigger grand opening
Anne: loves the space/ awesome healing feeling, involved with Bioneers/ wants to know who rents on a regular basis/ and learn more about how Walker works.
Mary: her use of building perspective is that if a large portion of income needs to come from rentals/ wants them to be geared towards church activities/ doesn’t want to have programming that conflicts with church activities
Jennifer. agrees with Mary/ that’s the reason she wanted to combine building use and rentals,events/ last year went pretty well/ we ‘say’ we are open to all paths but want to be sure choices are in sync with mission/ would like a type of sounding board for figuring out rental decisions
Adel: have a vision that the space is constantly and vitally in use/ meeting the needs of our neighboring communities/ and meshing with need for growth
Fred: doesn’t like goals/ agrees with EdEd/ church stuff and neighborhood stuff were 2 worlds in the past, Southside Homeschool, the Sanctuary project/ sees it more as a community center than a church/ an incubator for programs that help the neighborhood/ now being used to serve needs of the neighborhood for special events/ church will come out of being open to the community
Next meeting: Tuesday, Feb 10, 5 pm
