is what makes it worthwhile.

If it were not the way of a simpleton

it would long ago have been worthless.

These possessions of a simpleton

being the three I choose and cherish:

To care.

To be fair.

To be humble.

When one cares they are unafraid.

When one is fair they leave enough for others.

When one is humble they can grow.

Whereas if, like those of today,

they are bold without caring,

self-indulgent without sharing,

self-important without shame,

they are dead.

The invincible shield of caring

is a weapon from the sky

against being dead.

If I have prosthetic powers, and understand all mysteries

and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove

mountains, but do not have charity, I am nothing.

If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body

So that I may boast, but do not have charity, I gain nothing.

Charity is patient, charity is kind; charity is not envious or

boastful or arrogant or rude.  It does not insist on its own way;

it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing,

but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things,

hopes all things, endures all things…

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child,

I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end

to childish ways. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we

will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully,

even as I have been fully known.

And now faith, hope and charity abide, these three; and the greatest of these is charity.

Debra Ramage is continuing to do “Communications” for Walker Church on a volunteer basis for now. Would people who took pictures or video of Walter’s last day and his retirement party please share those to deborama@gmail.com and say if it’s OK to put them a) on our Facebook page, b) in the Walker Church Facebook Arts and Performances Group (less public than the page) and/or c) on the Walker Church website.

Rev Walter Lockhart has signed on to this UM Forward statement. We declare the full liberation of People of Color, Queer, and Transgender people as the only Christian way forward. Rev Katy Lee will start her ministry at Walker Community UMC on Sunday June 30th.  The first service will be upstairs in the dining room with food after celebration.

There will be a short church conference at 10:25AM, before Celebration, to set the salary for Katy Lee, the incoming pastor.  All members have voice and vote.

An audio version of JEANNETTE RANKIN: CHAMPION OF PERSISTENCE can be accessed from the Atlanta Fringe website. It is about 40 minutes in length, contains things not in the stage show (ie NEW information) and is hopefully excellent entertainment. Oh yeah, IT IS FREE!!!

Twin Cities Pride festival June 22^nd and 23^rd, parade will be June 23. Minnesota Reconciling Methodists are ordering matching shirts.  Here is the ordering information.

Chalice Circle:  Sundays 9 to 10 am in the Meditation Room. We listen to music, meditate, read a passage on spiritual growth, and discuss our thoughts and feelings using the circle method. All are welcome! Come once or many times!
