Opening
Lao Tzu # 68 Mitchell followed by 5 minutes of silence
The best athlete wants the opponent at their best.
The best general enters the mind of the enemy.
The best business professional serves the communal good.
The best leader follows the will of the people.
All of them embody the virtue of non-competition.
Not that they don’t love to compete, but they do it in the spirit of play.
In this they are like children and in harmony with the Tao.

Welcome, Announcements & Offering
Scripture Reading: Psalm 68 by Brent Bender
As the wind disperses smoke, as the wax melts in the fire, may all that divides me and separates me
flee before Your love.
As once You touched me with awareness on a bright June day when all had been soaked and sad
As once You touched me with acceptance when my heart was heavy.
As You have calmed me and opened my heart in the presence of suffering.
As You have showed me that there is a path beyond death.
Blessed be God, day by day, The God of our Salvation, who bears our burdens.

Twin Cities PRIDE is June 24 & 25. MN Reconciling Congregations will have a booth in Loring Park and we will participate in the parade on Sunday. The booth will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday with take down at 6 p.m. The parade is on Sunday at 11 a.m. There will be a worship service at the parade line-up site (usually near 3rd Street and Hennepin Ave) just prior to the parade.
The booth sign-up sheet is at ttsu.me/9mne9j The sign-up form can be accessed from your computer or mobile device. When viewing on a Smartphone, hold the phone in portrait position for the “user friendly” display.
Please go to the website (soon) and select the time when you would like to work in the booth. Most shifts are two hours. You will receive a confirmation email when you sign-up as well as another closer to PRIDE that will have more detailed information.
If you have not previously worked in the MN Reconciling Congregations booth, this is a great opportunity to let PRIDE attendees know that there are Methodist congregations who welcome GLBT persons! You will note that we are asking for a clergy volunteer for each shift as questions may come up that are best answered by a clergy person. FFI Judy Jerde jaj@hopefultravelers.net

Come Meet Your Muslim Neighbors at Taking Heart Open Houses
Ramadan is the month of the Islamic lunar calendar during which Muslims abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. The fast is performed to learn compassion, self-restraint and generosity.
As Muslims prepare for the sacred month of Ramadan this May-June, the Minnesota Council of Churches and the Muslim American Society are again announcing a series of Taking Heart Open Houses. Mosques and Islamic Community Centers throughout the Metro area will be welcoming their non-Muslim neighbors for encounter and learning, capped off by a traditional Ramadan Iftar, or fast-breaking meal.
Taking Heart has been bringing Muslims and non-Muslims together for food and conversation for ten years. Last year more than 800 guests attended an Iftar during Ramadan. We hope that people who have never been to a mosque – and those who have been with us – will join in an open house at a mosque in their neighborhood, or any other sites throughout the Metro area.
Please visit www.mnchurches.org to register for one or more of the open houses. Bring friends and family!
In your neighborhood: Please join the Umatul Islamic Center, 3015 Second Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55408, Thursday, June 1, 7:45 pm; Dar Al-Hijra, 504 Cedar Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55454, Friday, June 9, 7:30 pm; Abubakar As-Saddique Islamic Center, 2824 13th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55407, Wednesday, June 14, 7:30 pm.
These events are free and open to the public. For further information please contact: The Rev. Cynthia Bronson Sweigert, Taking Heart Organizer
