If you are bringing treats containing chocolate, whether homemade or bought, please be aware of our Peace with Justice commitment to boycott 95% of the chocolate sold (all major brand names, most bakery items) because it is literally produced by child slaves. Please use Fair Trade certified chocolate and cocoa in your baking and label it as you would gluten free or other factors.

Twin Cities Gay Pride Parade and Celebration: Sat & Sun, June 23-24. Parade is SUNDAY at 11:00 am. Here is some Methodist-specific information from Gloria Peck:
Hello Reconciling United Methodists. TC Pride weekend is soon upon us. We are once again sponsoring a float in the parade with space for a large contingent of loving, welcoming United Methodists. Here are some details about the parade on Sunday morning.
- At 10:45 AM, we will gather for worship at the float, near the corner of 3rd and Hennepin in downtown Minneapolis. Rev. David Wheeler will lead the worship and communion service.
- Umar Williams from Lake Harriet UMC, along with several other musicians, will lead us in singing at worship and along the parade route.
- The parade will start at 11:00. We are unit #73 of 149 units, so we estimate that we may not start moving in the parade until about noon. However, we have a great spot to watch the units that go prior to us as we wait.
- As in prior years, we can hand out candy to people along the route, but we are forbidden to throw candy
Walking in the Pride parade with the RMN float is a fun and moving experience. The route runs along Hennepin Ave. from 3rd St to 12th St, about a mile. If you want to participate in the parade this way, give Gloria a call at 612-600-1869 (cell) on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning and I can tell you if it will be possible.
MN Reconciling Congregations will have a booth in Loring Park and we will participate in the parade on Sunday. The booth will be open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Saturday and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday with take down at 6:00 pm. The parade is on Sunday at 11:00 am. The booth sign-up sheet is at ttsu.me/tm5y2p The sign-up form can be accessed from your computer or mobile device. When viewing on a Smartphone, hold the phone in portrait position for the “user friendly” display.
Sacred Sites Tour: Sat, June 30, 10:00am to 2:00pm, Church of St. Peter, 1405 Sibley Memorial Hwy, Saint Paul.
Tours are led by Jim Bear Jacobs (Mohican) and Bob Klanderud (Dakota). The tours offer an opportunity to learn about Minnesota history from a Native perspective through story-telling and experiencing the sites in silence/ meditation/ reflection. Haitian UMC Fundraiser: NOTE DATE IS CHANGED! Sun, July 22, 6:00 pm, Hamline UMC, 1514 Englewood Ave., Saint Paul. Our United Methodist Haitian fellowship, Rapha Tabernacle of Glory, meets weekly in St. Paul for worship, Bible Study and mutual support. They are led by Pastors Mickson Devronvil and Claudy Corvil, both Haitian born and U. S. educated. Services are in French, Creole and English. This fundraiser will give you a chance to get to know them. Dinner + concert, excellent band, great food! The event is free, but donations are desired.
