BUILDING USE COMMITTEE
APRIL 14, 2015 MEETING
Present: Adel Gardner, Ed Ed Mueller, Fred Glazer, Greg Garman, Mary Parker, Steve Sandberg, Margo McCreary.
Mary convened the meeting at 5:05pm.
o Fred read the minutes from the March meeting.
o Mary read sections of Colleen Puent’s report on rental options. Colleen recommended Craig’s List as our best option for seeking rentals. [Jennifer has already started listing there.] Colleen also suggested Springboard for the Arts. She also checked out Minnesota Council of Churches (got list of rents charged) and Center for Performing Arts. She further recommended spiffing up the current brochure for renting out the office to show it in best light.
Adel noted that Springboard uses SpaceFinder for listings; she recommended we list there.
o Adel reported on co-sharing, she distributed copies of CoCo’s brochure. She has visited CoCo’s space in Uptown: open area with partitions plus a receptionist. She suggested pursuing co-sharing options. Perhaps placing signs in coffee shops on a trial basis. She will do further research. Adel also noted the Powderhorn Business & Barter.
o Ed Ed reported on behalf of the Trustees that Converging Visions was consistent with Walker’s values. Jennifer is to work out details & scheduling. [Jennifer’s report notes that Emily Anton is already using the conference room.]
o Ask Jennifer if new events and Converging Visions events are being promoted in newspapers & list-serves, suggest in calendar in Southside Pride. Margo will check with Emily on what they are doing for advertising & promotion.
o Steve reported on the Ivy Building. He will distribute Walker Rental listings to tenants & on bulletin board.
o Adel proposed developing a kiosk with rental information.
o Mary reported on rates at performance spaces: Intermedia Arts, Capri Theater & Dreamland. She noted that without window blackouts it’s hard to sell our space. [Steve reported that he did talk with Nathan about lighting, will not have stage lighting until new lighting package is installed.] Mary suggested focus on music recitals (which don’t require blackouts).
o Ed Ed will facilitate the next meeting, Tues May 12th.
