My teachings are easy to understand

and easy to put into practice.

Yet your intellect will never grasp them,

and if you try to practice them, you’ll fail.

My teachings are older than the world.

How can you grasp their meaning?

If you want to know me, look inside your heart.

Welcome, Announcements & Offering

Reading:  Isaiah 62:1-4 by Roberta Cullen

1 For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her vindication shines out like the dawn, and her salvation like a burning torch.

2 The nations shall see your vindication, and all the kings your glory; and you shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the LORD will give.

3 You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

4 You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called My Delight Is in Her, and your land Married; for the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married.

**“Dear Friends, We have some Honduran leaders who will be turning themselves in for asylum in the coming days. Some of these folks have no one in the U.S. and need a home to live in while they work on their case. Here is one urgent case (we are not using her real name for her protection):

Claudia is a long-time leader in the campesino and women’s rights movements. For years, she has experienced death threats and several compadres from her organization have been murdered by paramilitaries and others attempting to drive poor people off their land. Claudia is a strong woman leader who has been forced to migrate due to both individual threats and the systemic forced migration caused by land theft perpetuated by multinational companies, mega-projects, and the violence of the state in pursuit of those interests. Individually and organizationally, they took inspiration from Bertha Caceres; unfortunately, those in Honduras continue to be forced to flee or be killed. Her son recently tried to ask for asylum, but was deported. She has not seen or heard from him in many months.

She has an attorney, but needs an home in order to be released.  Here are some of the requirements of a person/persons who are willing to Sponsor:

  • Should have legal status in the US. Legal Permanent Residents and US Citizens are helpful.
  • Can house Claudia rent-free for at least six months, which would mean providing a bed and meals. It’s not clear if and when Claudia will be able to work.
  • Can assist in getting Claudia’s mind, body and spiritual needs met. This includes getting her to immigration appts, medical visits, creating a friendly environment, and being willing to coordinate with other activists to get her needs met.

If you or someone you know might be interested in hosting Claudia, please contact xiomi13@yahoo.com and ajviscarra@gmail.com.”**
