Community Meal: 5:30 to 6:45.  A simple meal served on paper plates that can be eaten either in the dining hall or in the sanctuary while listening to the band.  FFI Walter Lockhart

 

Scaredy Cats Jazz Band: 6:30 to 7:30 in the sanctuary with Steve Sandberg, Steve Gehrenbeck-Miller, David West, Richard Lund, Shannon Roberts and Anthony Afful. Costumes and dancing encouraged. FFI David West

 

Samhain:  8 pm in the sanctuary Our annual ritual in which we visit the Roadhouse of the Dead will be held after. FFI Dianne O’Donnell

 

Sacred Ground Concert: Fri, Nov 3, 8 to 10 pm at Walker.  Join singer Barb Tilsen and photographer Gayla Ellis in concert celebrating the release of Barb’s new CD of songs for adults, “Sacred Ground,” with musicians Karen Mueller and Scott Malchow. The evening will feature several beautiful musical slide shows combining the stunning imagery of Gayla’s photography with Barb’s powerful songs. Tickets are $10 at the door

 

Walker Men’s Brunch: Sat, Nov 4, 9:30 at the home of Greg Garman.  We had an excellent brunch earlier this month and our next gathering will be Nov 4–a change from the original plan.  FFI: Paul McHugh, 612-876-8527

 

Election Day:  Nov 7.  Walker is a polling place for the election and the sanctuary will be in use for this all day.

Walker Church Holiday Art Fair:  Saturday, November 18, 10am to 4pm; Sunday November 19, 12pm to 4pm.  We still have room for a few more artists—no upfront fee, just 15% of your sales to help support Walker Church.  FFI kcbretzke@gmail.com

Calling all artists and crafters! We are looking for handmade things to sell for the art fair at our Walker table. We are also looking for people to staff the table for the two days. We will send around a signup sheet with other art fair sign-ups at church. All proceeds go to Walker Church, and this table has been a great fundraiser for our church!  mccpuppet@gmail.com

 

 

Other Announcements

 

Powderhorn Empty Bowls:  Friday, Nov 3, 11 am to 7 pm at the Powderhorn Park Community Center, 3400 15th Ave So.  Come together with your friends and neighbors for a community meal of bread and soup to help raise funds to feed those who are hungry in our neighborhood. Pick out a handmade bowl for your meal, enjoy visiting with your neighbors, and when you leave, take your bowl home with you – now empty – as a reminder that you’ve done something good to help your neighbors. Donation: $20. One bowl per adult in-person attendee.

CLASSICS LOST ‘N’ FOUND THEATER COMPANY is performing AN IDEAL HUSBAND Friday, Oct 27 & Sat Oct 28 at 7 pm At Nokomis Lutheran Church at 5011 s 31st Ave. J Emily Peabody (a Walker Church member) is in the cast.

 

Willow is offering sliding scale massage sessions from her home office. I offer this to my community as an attempt to keep massage affordable to those who need it and who may not have a lot of disposable income. Also to promote self-care with a less intimidating price point.  60 min is $35-$60

Women’s Congress for Future Generations:  November 3-5  It’s time for Women’s Leadership!
It’s no secret– these are tough and unsure times that we are living in. While these times call for warriors of the human spirit, they also call for us to come together to give each other strength and live in our beloved community The Women’s Congress for Future Generations elevates the voices of women to protect Mother Earth and Future Generations at this critical moment in history. Chalice Circle:  Sundays 9 to 10 am in the Meditation Room. We listen to music, meditate, read a passage on the subject of spiritual growth, and use the circle method to discuss our thoughts and feelings. All are welcome! Come once or many times!
